When a student who is blind graduates from a Bible College, what will they be able to do with their
four years of training? From our experience so far, they will be able to preach, conduct Bible studies,
teach Sunday School, counsel, sing, lead worship, evangelize, testify, and just about anything else that
you would expect from a Bible College graduate.
Beginning in 1994 we have been providing assistance for blind students enrolled at the Wesleyan Bible
College, in Rosales, Pangasinan. This college offers a five year ministry preparation program for sighted
students. Our part is to facilitate the integration of blind students into the program. Mylene Monterey
provides training in braille reading and writing and in the other skills needed by the blind students.
She also makes sure that braille versions of all the required reading materials are provided. In addition,
she supervises a computer resource room for the blind students, which they can use in doing their research
and in writing their papers.
Although the graduates from this program are fully qualified for church ministry in any church, we feel that
they are uniquely qualified for ministry to their fellow blind. We look forward to working in partnership with
them.
