After the initial shock, parents often struggle with feelings of helplessness and fears about what their
child's future will be like. With these parents in mind, we host an annual three-day live-in workshop on
raising children who are blind. Last year, thirty eight families attended, along with their pre-school
blind children.
To help answer the parent's many questions, we invite eye doctors, trained teachers, braille experts,
and other specialists in the field of blindness. We also invite blind adult professionals who can help
alleviate some of the parent's concerns about their children's future. We feel that working with parents
is the best thing that we can do for very young blind children.
